Mel Gibson dropped from Hangover 2 role like hot potatoe

(HMG Celebrity News) – Well he just might have to stick to working in Jodie Foster films for now.  Mel Gibson who’s tarnished reputation has been further besmirched after being accused of domestic abuse against ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, the mother of his one-year-old daughter and ranting at her on the phone,  was set to make a light comeback  in the sequel to the Hangover, in which the original film about a stag party that goes awry in Las Vegas, took more than $467m globally.   The embattled actor was announced to make a cameo in The Hangover 2, but that apparently didn’t sit well with some of the cast and crew.  Director Todd Phillips confirmed the news Thursday, saying, “I thought Mel would have been great in the movie… But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”  It’s obviously a blow  for Gibson, who accepted the small role to get himself back out there, only to have it yanked away from him in such an embarrassing way.  The sequel, due out next year, will reunite Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha.

Conan O’Brien’s First Guests Announced

(HMG Celebrity News) – After nearly 20 years at NBC, Conan O’Brien’s late-night debut on TBS hosting “Conan” will kick off with Seth Rogen and musician Jack White on Monday, Nov. 8, the network has announced.  And there will be a yet unannounced guest perhaps as well.  Leading up to the highly anticipated debut of the show, simply called “Conan,” O’Brien has been polling his fans at Team Coco, about which special guest they would most like to see on the first episode, with choices ranging from the unlikely such as Vladimir Putin and Pope Benedict XVI, to the unknown Arlene Wagner, curator of the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum.
Hollywood heavyweight Jack Nicholson, who has not appeared on a talk show since 1971, was leading in the poll, with Lady Gaga trailing him in second place.
Tuesday’s show will include guests Tom Hanks, “30 Rock” regular Jack McBrayer and reunited grunge band Soundgarden.
“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm stops by on Wednesday, and Thursday, Conan will greet  Michael Cera and “Modern Family”’s Julie Bowen.
His new Los Angeles-based show will air Mondays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. Eastern.

Actors for Bilbo Baggins and Other Key Roles for The Hobbit Announced

(HMG Movie News) – While the location for filming is still undecided, Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh have begun announcing key cast members for The Hobbit.  The back-to-back installments of The Hobbit will begin shooting in February and Jackson has not wasted any time announcing his cast.
Martin Freeman is set to play Bilbo Baggins, the adventurous Hobbit whose adventures and discovery of the ‘one ring’ leads to The Lord of the Rings.  Freeman who portrays Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes, the UK TV series,  has appeared in films The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Hot Fuzz and Love Actually, as well as the UK cult hit series The Office.  Jackson said there was only ever one choice for Bilbo Baggins.
“There has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us. There are a few times in your career when you come across an actor who you know was born to play a role, but that was the case as soon as I met Martin,” he said.  He is intelligent, funny, surprising and brave – exactly like Bilbo…”
Part one of this film adaptation of the fantasy novel by J.R.R. Tolkien follows Baggins as the hobbit journeys to the Lonely Mountain accompanied by a company of dwarves to reclaim a treasure taken from them by thieving dragon Smaug.
Richard Armitage (MI-5 and Captain America: The First Avenger) is set to play Thorin Oakenshield, the leader of the Company of Dwarves, who sets off to reclaim the lost dwarven kingdom, with Baggins.
Aidan Turner (Being Human) and Rob Kazinsky (EastEnders) will play Kili and Fili, respectively.
Graham McTavish (Secretariat) as Dwalin.
John Callen (Power Rangers Jungle Fury) as Oin.
Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis are expected to reprise Gandalf and Gollum.
Stephen Hunter (All Saints) as Bombur.
Mark Hadlow (King Kong) as Dori.
Peter Hambleton (The Strip) as Gloin.
James Nesbitt, Cate Blanchett, David Tennant, Stephen Fry, Saoirse Ronan and Bill Nighy are are also rumored for roles.
After getting through delays in production due to MGM’s financial problems, labor disputes with acting unions, Warner Brothers executives are still considered moving the $500 million production from New Zealand to the UK, Ireland, Canada, or the Czech Republic.

Michael Lohan Attacked by Knife-Wielding Maniac or Just Crying for Attention Again?

(HMG Celebrity Gossip) – While his daughter, Lindsay Lohan is set to appear in court on Friday (October 22) for her probation violation hearing, Michael Lohan is back in the news again.  In either a unfortunate event or another desperate cry for attention, daddy Lohan claims he was attacked outside his home in Santa Monica, CA, about an hour after he received a threatening phone call.  Michael supposedly went out for cigarettes, when he was allegedly jumped from behind. TMZ sources say the suspect, whom Michael says is in his 50s or 60s, began choking him and had some kind of sharp object which he used to slice Michael’s neck.  Michael says the knife penetrated his skin and caused substantial bleeding.  According to sources, Michael says the man cut him again as he fought the guy off. The perp eventually fled on foot.
It might turn out that his claims are confirmed to be true, but I can’t help feeling like how pathetic is this if they are not.  Michael  released a statement out of nowhere earlier this week, saying he was through using the press to communicate with his former family saying:
“After serious thought and conversation last night … with all due respect to those who have both gotten on my nerves for reporting things that weren’t true, (as well as things that were), I want to make a public statement that I will not be commenting on ANYTHING relating to my daughter Lindsay [Lohan], or ANYTHING my ex wife Dina, or any ‘sources’ related to her, might say.”

Rod Stewart unveils love-child from brief teen romance

[HMG Celebrity News] – Now 65, and with a new baby due just after New Year, Rod Stewart has added another name to his family – Sarah Streeter. The daughter he gave up for adoption when he was in college.
“She was adopted when I was 17 or 18, I think,” the vintage vocalist told Joy Behar yesterday. “I was absolutely stone broke, so she was put up for adoption.”
For her first 18-years Sarah had no idea Rod was even her father. Now 46, she lives in England and is finding the process of reconnecting tricky, but very rewarding.
“There’s no anger,” Streeter told the Mail. “I was never angry about what happened, just sad. But I realize it’s been as difficult for him as it’s been for me. Now we’re at the start of a new chapter, and that’s wonderful.”
The pair first made contact when Rod sent her a letter after the death of Sarah’s adoptive parents in 2007.
“Since her mum and dad died we’ve tried to come together, and it’s working pretty well,” Stewart says. “I never felt I was her dad, because I didn’t take her to school or change her diapers – there was no paternal thing there, but I’m trying.”
The outcome of a brief romance Rod had with a student in the mid-60’s, Sarah and Rod reconnected when Rod sent flowers and a note after her adoptive mother, Evelyn died of a stroke. Now part of his sizable family of seven, with #8 due in January, Sarah says she’s delighted but nervous about the new connection.
“It’s all water under the bridge now,” she explains. “It’s nerve-racking, too, but just as much so for him as it is for me.”
At 46 Sarah faces the tricky position of being seven years older than Rod’s latest wife, Penny Lancaster. But that’s not the only odd thing – Before she knew Rod was her dad, Sarah was quite an admirer;
“I had a poster of him on my wall because I thought he was sexy – then suddenly I find out he’s my father,” she says, giggling. “Now I’m getting to know him more. Rod has actually come into my life in a big way since mother’s gone, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.”
They finally met at one of Rod’s concerts in July at the ‘02 Arena’ in London. And now the bond is reformed, Sarah says their future looks strong;
“For a while, he didn’t really talk about me,” Sarah tells the reporters. “Now he talks about his seven children and an eighth on the way, not the six, and that’s lovely. Finally, it’s turned out the way I wanted it to, and it couldn’t be better.”

Sister Wives’ wife #2 married to #1’s brother

[HMG Celebrity News] — That glorious banquet of white trash that is ‘Sister Wives’ just got even more fun – It’s now been discovered that one of Kody Brown’s four wives was originally married to another wife’s brother.
It seems Brown’s second wife, Janelle married Adam Barber – the brother of Kody’s first wife, Meri – in Salt Lake City in 1988. They divorced two years later, then Janelle and Kody performed a ’spiritual union’ ceremony in 1993.
A source says Kody even helped break up the marriage, and another insider says Meri is still distressed by the link.
“Meri was originally very upset over Janelle dumping her brother,” a family source tells the Star. “I think there’s been a lot of tension between her, Janelle and Kody all these years.”
The Brown’s unusual lifestyle has proved a hit, drawing over 2-million viewers – a record for TLC. But the reception from lawmakers has been less than warm – The day after the pilot aired, Salt Lake City Police announced they were debating polygamy charges. Kody could face 20-years in jail, and each wife could get up to five.
No charges have so far emerged, but just being in the show has already cost Meri her job and lost Kody several clients for his advertising business. And they’ve got twelve children to feed. So life could be better.
